I guess the whole dog food interest started for me while growing up on the farm in the seventies.
Whenever we would butcher any animals or clean fish, our dogs would always be right there hoping for their fair share of the butcher scraps.
Along with likely, very poor quality kibble, our dogs would get butcher scraps and table scraps mixed in their food regularly.
When I was around 19 years old, I met an "old" man named Buzz a gourmet chef who cooked for his two dogs. He spent a significant amount of time teaching me a few of his favorite recipes.
Though most of the meals he prepared were cooked, we also discussed the importance of raw foods and bones for dogs.
It was conversations with Buzz that initially got me thinking about feeding for the breed, size and activity level of dogs.
In 1999 after working with wolves and large northern breed dogs for nearly three years at the wolf sanctuary, I began researching canine diet and nutrition with the idea of creating foods that would help our captive rescues live healthier and longer lives.
Feeding nearly 80 domestic, wild and exotic dogs daily I learned how to find the best foods and produce specialty meals for the variety of dogs we housed and their different health issues.
I believe foods can harm and foods can heal.
The foundation for health is the foods we eat and the foods we feed our four legged companions.
Over the past few decades, I have developed a number of canine diets that are healthy and well balanced for different breeds, ages, and health and activity levels.
My goal for this website and my
Wolf Daddy's Kitchen YouTube channel is to show you easy foods and recipes fit for you and most dogs of all ages, sizes and breeds.
I love cooking for my two dogs at home everyday and I love to share the simple meals, and recipes which just about anyone in your house can learn to prepare for your four legged loved ones.
I always cook for my guy and love to share dog food ideas...
Here is another great meal you can prepare for beloved pets!
Another fresh idea that you should be cooking up for your dog!
Liver is so healthy for you and I and our dogs. In this video I will also tell you how you might save some money on feeding your dogs.
All too often when we rescue dogs they are emaciated, starving and their overall health has been compromised in many ways. Fat...fat is important for proper brain function and fat is a great way to assist in regaining one's health.
I grew up an animal lover.
Fortunately, for most of my life I have had the opportunity to be around hundreds of animals, both wild and domestic, of all shapes, sizes and temperaments. Most animal lovers are a little eccentric, deranged or even a little nuts. I am no exception, and in fact, am quite possibly all of the above.
I am so passionate about staying healthy and robust until the end of life and living a long time.
Not just for me...but for my family, friends and the animals in my life!
My personal motto is...
Food is Our First Medicine
I love cooking and creating foods and treats for my dogs!
I got a call one day about a dog stuck on a ledge of a cliff...she could not go up or down...The owners horses eluded to the whereabouts of the dog on the cliff...So without hesitation a friend and I rushed to the rescue!
